TECGEN71

Sudden cardiac death has consistently accounted for the largest share of on-duty firefighter deaths since the NFPA began this study in 1977. 1

Key Factors of Heat Stress:

  1. Weight
  2. Flexibility
  3. Thickness

As an industry, we have been trained to think that you have to sacrifice thermal protective performance (TPP) in order to achieve maximum total heat loss (THL).

SUPERIOR FIBER | ENHANCED BREATHABILITY & FLEXIBILITY | LIGHTEST WEIGHT SYSTEM | HIGHEST THL

Introducing TECGEN71

We offer the most lightweight, thin, and flexible fabric composites with the highest THL ever seen in the fire service...without sacrificing thermal protection or durability. Introducing TECGEN71, an exclusive outer shell available in Fire-Dex FXR turnout gear.

History of TECGEN71:
In September of 2015, Fire-Dex acquired TECGEN® PPE and began selling the PPE line within the Fire-Dex Dealer Network. After analyzing the lightweight TECGEN® fibers, our product development team began creating a stronger, lighter weight system by merging it with tried and true Nomex®/Kevlar® layers from DuPont. The product tests and wear trials have yielded measurable differences from traditional turnout gear available in the market today.

To evolve and develop the fiber and offer some of the most protective gear available today, Fire-Dex partnered with Milliken & Company, headquartered in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Milliken shares a long history of fabric innovation and design.
