Summary:
Position Overview:
Firefighter One, LLC is seeking a Part-Time SCBA Cylinder Hydrostatic Testing Technician to join our Equipment Service Department in Sparta, NJ. This position is responsible for assisting with the hydrostatic testing and inspection of SCBA cylinders to ensure compliance with DOT and NFPA standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform hydrostatic testing, visual inspections, and documentation of SCBA cylinders.
Prepare, clean, and label cylinders for testing and return.
Operate testing and support equipment in accordance with company procedures.
Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
Follow all safety and quality standards during the testing process.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
Mechanical aptitude and ability to work with testing equipment.
Ability to lift and move cylinders and equipment as needed.
Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently once trained.
Training:
All required training will be provided by Firefighter One, including DOT and manufacturer certification necessary to perform hydrostatic testing.
Schedule:
Part-time position with flexible hours during regular business operations (Monday–Friday).
Compensation:
Competitive hourly rate based on experience.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Must be able to work independently on assigned tasks as well as to accept direction on given assignments.
Thorough knowledge of different types of compositions of aluminum and steel. Steel and aluminum structure certification is preferable.
Ability to make parts out of flat sheeting.
Ability to minimize material waste.
Must have a complete understanding of metallurgy.
3 years in welding/fabrication in the fabrication and body welding or automotive/truck repair business
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
MEDIUM WORK: Lifting 50 lbs. maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping, kneeling, crawling, climbing, and balancing.
WORK POSITION: Sitting 10%, standing 50% and walking 40%.
WORK CONDITIONS: Spends approximately 75% of the time outdoors.
