Turnout gear goes in an extractor. Helmets, boots, SCBA harnesses and other hard goods do not - the agitation damages them and the load damages the machine. But they come off a fire carrying the same contamination as the coat did, and wiping them down does not remove much of it.
The Roto-Decon is built for exactly that gap. It handles rigid and semi-rigid equipment in a cycle designed around the materials, so hard goods get properly cleaned rather than superficially wiped.
Worth having in any department running a clean cab policy or a formal decon procedure - the policy is only as good as the equipment behind it, and hard goods are usually where it falls down.
